The bosses of Britain’s 100 biggest companies are enjoying pay rises despite the economic crisis.
Senior directors of companies in the FTSE 100 saw their total earnings jump by 55 per cent in a year.
The chief executives of blue-chip firms such as Tesco and Marks & Spencer took home an average of £4.9million, according to a report published today.
Bart Becht, the head of Reckitt Benckiser, which owns brands such as Nurofen, Cillit Bang and Vanish, received £93million last year.
Other top earners included Mick Davis, chief executive of mining group Xstrata, who took home £25.5million.
